a war deep down inside
- linda m. crate
i thought you were sweet and tart
like strawberries, but it turns out you were just as bitter as pomegranates; a fruit that i have never liked in taste or looks i'm sure someone loves them but not me-- so please tell your ghosts take leave of me i need not be haunted by such bitter things or to be stained in their blood i don't need to remember the broken bones of a boy pretending to be a man who knew not the difference between love & lust, and i do not need purple of that garish hue for i find it lovely when it is not rife with all that war; i crave demeter's flowers and peace but i will be artemis with her unflinching wood sending wasps to destroy your garden of pomegranates if you do not leave my cherries, oranges, and strawberries alone-- i desire to be peaceful, but i have a war deep down inside that would scare even hades into hiding. |
