noun: season; plural noun: seasons
1. each of the four divisions of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) marked by particular weather patterns and daylight hours, resulting from the earth's changing position with regard to the sun.
mon·soon
/mänˈso͞on/
noun
noun: monsoon; plural noun: monsoons; noun: wet monsoon; plural noun: wet monsoons; noun: dry monsoon; plural noun: dry monsoons
Seasons and monsoons are powerful time markers. Our spirits and bodies move along, changing, transitioning, evolving. We love seasonal fruits and vegetables, we wait for the coming of rain. The monsoons are not just prevailing winds, but they have changed maritime trade for a long time, allowing diasporas to migrate and settle down.
We are looking for poetry/art/photography that examine such themes. How have the seasons and monsoons affected you? How have your own internal seasons and monsoons influenced your view of the world?
This combined submission call is for LGBTIQA and Southeast Asian diaspora. So if you are queer or/and Southeast Asian diaspora, send in your finest!
The themes explore transitions, transformations, germination, changes, disruptions, hope, trade, travel. The deadline is June 15, 2019.
Please remember that work should at least loosely related to botany.
